Shed Ministry

The Shed Ministry is a new and innovative way for the church to reach into its community in a loving and fun way. Shed based projects encompass the concept of people working together in a 'shed environment' exercising their God given gifts and abilities, forming a community that shares and cares for each other and its wider community.

Some of the programs the shed project runs are:

Skim Board Project

Learn to make your own skim board: This program runs from the shed at 40 Sunnymeade Dr, Friday nights (not school holidays) from 5.30-7.30, and is aimed at early high school aged young people. This program provides the opportunity to learn some woodworking skills in a fun, positive environment. Make a skim board, painted to your own design, then have some serious fun on the water! All materials are supplied free.

WeFish

Learn to fish: This program provides positive male role models to boys aged between 10-12 years. Learn the basics of fishing, then test them out on a fishing day trip! All equipment is provided free.

FIREWOOD FRENZY

This program aims to reach out to those in need by delivering free firewood. It is a service that has recently blessed over a dozen families. One response from a single mum: "I cant believe that I went from no wood to all this, my sons and I will be so warm tonight, I feel really blessed."

BACKYARD BLESS

This program (like the popular TV show 'Backyard Blitz') involves a number of blokes from the church going around to people’s houses and weeding, mulching, mowing, pruning, etc. The aim is to simply bless people by cleaning up their yards. One elderly lady who had recently had surgery was amazed that we would do this for nothing and grateful that people cared enough to help.

THE FUTURE

Plans are afoot to begin a mentoring program with youth, using the shed to be a place to 'hang out', play pool/ darts etc. A dementia support program is also planned where men can come to enjoy each others company, fix things in the shed and talk over a BBQ and coffee.
