Worship

We believe that God is worthy of our praise; that the more we get to know God, the more we want to respond to Him in worship; and that when we genuinely worship God, He will meet with us. Hence worship is one of the key activities of Aberfoyle Uniting Church.

Our weekend worship services (6.30pm Saturdays, 9.00am and 10.45am Sundays) are the times when people of all ages gather to focus on God, to hear what He may be saying, to be refreshed and equipped by Him to face the coming week. We want our worship services to be places of welcome but above all encounters with the living God. Our services are designed so that people from all walks of life, at any stage on their life and faith journey, will feel comfortable and inspired - they are designed to reflect the age and interests of the average person in our local community.

We sing songs, pray together, hear the Bible read, sometimes laugh and cry with the characters of a drama, watch a variety of visual presentations, regularly celebrate Holy Communion, baptize and dedicate to God people of all ages and hear God's Word explained and applied to everyday life in the 21st century. An offering is collected but it is clearly explained that only those who 'call Aberfoyle home' are expected to participate.

Worship services are led by teams of volunteers who use their abilities to sing, play instruments (piano, guitars, electric bass, drums, brass, woodwind and stringed instruments are all used on a regular basis), operate technical equipment (the PA desk and data projector) or be involved in some other creative presentation. Members of the teams strive for excellence in everything, recognising that excellence is doing the best we can with what we have where we're at.
